Dear Brothers and Friends of Acacia:

I am saddened to write today to tell you that William L. Kapoun, Indiana '01, lost his courageous campaign to survive and passed away March 8th of the injuries sustained in a fire in his apartment in Seoul, Korea, on February 29th. Bill's fumeral was held on March 15th at the Church of St. Mary's, Alexandria.

In a statement given to the Korean Times, Bill's mother, Judy Kapoun said, "Thank you, all of you, from our entire family for your support and good wishes. The Korean people have been very kind to us." His parents will return to the United States after the memorial service in Seoul. His father, Dan Kapoun, a retired soldier, plans to hold a memorial service at the U.S. Army base in Yongsan as soon as his son's body is conveyed to the family from the hospital after the settlement of treatment fees.

I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation to those of you who have expressed an interest in helping or who have contributed to Bill's fund. Although approximately $60,000 has been raised, the family continues to face a financial burden as medical expenses have reached more than $80,000. For further information on how you can help, please visit the Help Bill Fund at www.billkapoun.com.

Bill was an outstanding young man and Acacian. He exemplified the qualities that we hold so dearly during his brief life. He will be sorely missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Fraternally,

David J. Allen
