Brother Homer Thornberry Homer Thornberry, a former U.S. Representative and a senior federal appeals court judge, was nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court by President Lyndon B. Johnson, but never confirmed. In 1968, when President Johnson nominated Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas to be chief justice, he named Judge Thornberry, a longtime friend and a federal judge for five years, to fill Fortas's seat. |
