Brothers, Advisors, and Volunteers–

On behalf of our International Council, and the International Headquarters staff, please know that Acacia Fraternity is committed to supporting each of our members and chapters as we return to school in the upcoming year. Below you will find additional chapter recommendations on operations and functions.

We also recommend visiting the Center for Disease Control (CDC)’s and World Health Organization (WHO)’s websites for the most up-to-date information from qualified epidemiologist. In addition, students should continue to closely monitor communications from their respective universities or colleges.

Please reach out to the Assistant Executive Director, Michael Weber, at mweber@acacia.org, for any questions or concerns not answered on this page.

We are happy to share the newest coronavirus resources from our insurer, Holmes-Murphy. Both resources, along with others, can also be found on their website.

This resource contains links to information and answers for questions and concerns we have collected from clients over the past few months.

This resource features the latest CDC guidance on cleaning and disinfecting your properties.

COVID-19 Future PLANNING

Chapter Operations during COVID-19

  • We have prepared this document for things officers and chapters can be doing during this time. Every officer has the ability to keep their chapter on the path to improvement during this time, even if they are not together on campus.

CHAPTER SUPPORT

  • Please take advantage of the remote coaching services offered by our office. Your Chapter Coach is able to host video and phone meetings with your chapter officers and advisors throughout the week.

CHAPTER MEETINGS

  • Follow the recommendations made by your educational institution on regular gatherings for all registered student organizations.

  • Want to host a virtual meeting for a group – for example, a recruitment committee meeting, chapter council meeting, or alumni advisory meeting?

    • If you have a gmail account, Google offers Hangouts where up to 10 can meet via video. You can meet on demand, or schedule through your Google calendar by “adding conferencing.”

    • Zoom also offers free video conferencing for up to 100 people. Calls are limited to 40 minutes with the free version.

      • Need to host a larger group – maybe the whole chapter for a workshop, meeting or program? Or need to record the meeting to share later? You can also sign-up for a Pro plan for just $14.99 a month to set up a virtual meeting for larger groups. This tool also allows you to record the meeting to share with members who might not be able to attend.

Chapter Events

  • Please follow the recommendations made by your educational institution on social engagements, philanthropic events, fundraising events, and gatherings (including fraternity/sorority formals) for all registered student organizations.

    • The Chapter should identify new ways they can connect virtually during this time. Here are a few we recommend:

      • Hold a Virtual Cornerstones Talk: Utilize a communication software like Zoom to have an alumni share his professional experiences.

      • Hold Virtual Cornerstones Skill Sessions: Reach out to Alumni to conduct mock video interviews for active members.

      • Hold Virtual Workouts: Have a brother lead the rest of the chapter in a video work out.

      • Hold an Online Philanthropy: Do an Online Philanthropy using CrowdChange. Here is a guide to Virtual Fundraising.

Housing

  • In the case that an individual within one of your housing facilities is feeling ill and/or is diagnosed with COVID-19, follow the recommendations made by your educational institution and medical professionals immediately for next steps.

  • We ask that all Alumni Corporation Board officers communicate with the host institution to learn more about any precautionary measures or steps that should be taken.
