Service During COVID-19

Despite distance learning, social isolation, and the stress of a global pandemic, Acacians have figured out ways to give back despite a nearly nation-wide quarantine. Our brothers have truly exemplified our motto of "Human Service" during this time and provided #HOPEfromHome.

California of Pennsylvania Alumni Supports His Community

Brother Eric Zwigart, California of Pennsylvania '88, Acacia Fraternity Foundation Board of Directors member, and President and CEO of RacePro Products, Inc. in Southern California donated 250 gallons of hand sanitizer to the San Diego Homeless Shelter.   Usually RPP bottles motor oil and other additives, but given the shortage of plastic containers they changed their production line to begin bottling hand sanitizer in their usual additive bottles to help fulfill demand. Ohio 5cacia

Ohio chapter has held their 5cacia 5k fundraiser to benefit the Lustgarten Foundation and raise awareness for pancreatic cancer for 12 years. While the large group that normally assembles couldn't all run in person, a small group of brothers in-town ran together and others ran/walked/biked/crawled virtually. Over the last 12 years, they have raised over $150,000 for Lustgarten and look forward to another 12 years of supporting the Lustgarten foundation!

North Carolina Colony Pledge Gives Back

Based in Roseboro, North Carolina, Vinny’s is an Italian Restaurant with roots in the community. Throughout COVID-19, Vinny’s has remained operational with just the kitchen staff remaining. Everson Moran has been volunteering his time bringing food to customers since the restuarant has only been able to pay it's cooking staff in order to remain open for the community.

When asked about his experience, Everson said, "I am fortunate enough to call Vinny’s my first job and I have returned to volunteer. Serving at Vinny’s has brought a clarity and sort of commitment to helping our small businesses in our communities during this perilous time. By volunteering at Vinny’s I have seen the incredible support of the community along with the good joy that a chicken parmigiana can bring to families! Human Service is our motto and my commitment during these COVID and beyond!"
